Who are we hiring?
The Director of Experiences will plan and execute a portfolio of high-impact events and activations that serve our global partnerships org and MSG Sports (brand, marketing, and ticketing businesses). Operating as a highly resourceful individual contributor, this role is responsible for bringing partner contractual events, fan experiences, season ticket member activations, and brand programming to life — managing the full lifecycle from concept through execution. The Director will work closely with internal stakeholders and strategically deploy third-party event agencies to deliver experiences at scale, serving as the primary point of accountability for quality, consistency, and commercial outcomes across the entire portfolio.
What will you do?
Own end-to-end planning and execution of a broad portfolio of partner, brand, and ticketing experiences — including contractual partner activations, fan-facing events, large scale season ticket member experiences, golf outings, alumni events, and community initiatives
Manage and direct third-party event agencies across the portfolio — setting clear briefs, overseeing deliverables, and holding agencies accountable to quality, timeline, and budget standards
Serve as the primary day-to-day lead for all assigned events, managing all logistics including venue contracting, F&B, staffing, décor, security, check-in, and on-site execution — whether delivered directly or through agency partners
Partner with internal stakeholders across partnerships, ticketing, brand, and player relations to develop event concepts and ensure experiences align with business objectives and partner commitments
Build and manage event budgets across the full portfolio, allocating resources effectively between direct delivery and agency-supported events while tracking costs against targets
Manage contract processes with venues, vendors, and external agencies — ensuring agreements are in place and all parties are aligned ahead of each event
Coordinate talent, alumni, and player logistics in close partnership with basketball and hockey operations, ensuring seamless integration into events
Lead on-site execution across a wide range of event formats — from intimate VIP dinners and partner golf outings to large-scale fan activations and playoff programming
Manage and process all event-related invoices and expenses in a timely and accurate manner
Conduct post-event analysis and gather cross-functional feedback to identify best practices and continuously improve event quality and efficiency year-over-year
What do you need to succeed?
8–10 years of experience in event planning and execution, with demonstrated experience managing a diverse portfolio of event types and sizes — including in an individual contributor capacity
Proven experience managing third-party event agencies — including briefing, overseeing production, and holding external partners accountable to outcomes
Experience working in or alongside a sports, media, or entertainment environment is strongly preferred — familiarity with partner contractual events and fan-facing activations is a plus
Proven ability to manage multiple events simultaneously across different stakeholder groups, timelines, and complexity levels without direct team support
Strong budget management skills with a track record of delivering high-quality experiences within cost parameters
Excellent communicator and relationship-builder — comfortable working across a wide range of internal partners, external vendors, agencies, and senior stakeholders
Highly resourceful and self-sufficient — able to drive a high volume of work independently while knowing when and how to leverage external resources effectively
Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage complex logistics without losing sight of the bigger picture
Calm and decisive under pressure — able to adapt quickly and make confident decisions in fast-moving, high-stakes environments
Special requirements
Ability to stand for the duration of evening events
Available to work extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the event calendar
Travel required
