[Remote] Tax Manager (Direct Tax)

The Tax Manager – Direct Taxes will manage complex direct tax matters across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and driving global tax efficiency through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities • Oversee global direct tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate preparation and submission of corporate income tax returns, withholding tax returns, and other direct tax filings across all company entities • Partner with external tax advisors to support filings, documentation, and reporting obligations in multiple jurisdictions • Ensure ongoing compliance with local tax authorities, mitigating risk and maintaining strong relationships • Identify, monitor, and address potential tax risks, proposing actionable solutions • Assist in managing audits and inspections, liaising with tax authorities to resolve issues efficiently • Provide strategic tax guidance on cross-border transactions, corporate structuring, and tax-efficient planning aligned with business objectives • Keep up-to-date with changes in global tax laws and proactively adapt processes and strategies • Mentor and guide a team of tax professionals, supporting their development and day-to-day execution • Work closely with finance, legal, HR, and other departments to ensure seamless tax compliance and reporting Skills • Proven experience in international direct taxation, preferably in a consultancy or multinational corporate environment • Strong understanding of global corporate tax rules, cross-border compliance, tax treaties, and EU Directives • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams in a fast-paced environment • Capability to analyze complex data sets and provide actionable insights to senior management • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus • Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder communication skills across regions and functions • Bachelor's degree in Law, Economics, Accounting, or related field • Post-Graduate or Master's degree in Taxation is a plus • Startup or fintech experience is a plus • Prior remote work experience is advantageous but not required Benefits • Work from anywhere • Flexible paid time off • Flexible working hours (we are async) • 16 weeks paid parental leave • Mental health support services • Stock options • Learning budget • Home office budget & IT equipment • Budget for local in-person social events or co-working spaces Company Overview • Remote is an employment, payroll, and HR platform for modern, distributed businesses.
